WE NEED CARING, COMPASSIONATE INDIVIDUALS TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED LOSS AND TRAUMA DUE TO CRIME OR TRAGIC CIRCUMSTANCE
WHAT DOES A VCR DO?
- A VCR responds to a call as a part of a two person team
- They are directed by a Muskoka Victim Services Team Leader to where, when and what they are responding to
- They are never sent alone and are not sent when there is a possibility of danger to themselves or others
- They are there to immediately provide comfort or practical assistance and referral during the immediate crisis period only
- The service they provide is absolutely confidential
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Mature, Responsible
- Ability or experience to deal with crisis situations
- Non-judgemental approach to victim's issues
- Knowledge of community resources
- Successful completion of minimum 40 hour Crisis Assistance Training Program
- Good communication skills
- Able to commit for one year
- Good listening skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Minimum age, 19
- Valid driver's license/vehicle
- Attendance at monthly upgrading sessions
- Minimum committment of 3 - 12 hour shifts per month
